• Graduate of Diploma Course in Anesthesia Technology.
• MOH license in Anesthesia Technology.
• Yearly unit and divisional competency review.
• Maintains certification of BLS/ ACLS.
• Optional certification in PALS, NRP.
• Able to communicate both written and oral English, Arabic language skills desired but not required.
• Three years of Anesthesia Technician experience required.
• Responsible for inducing and maintaining adequate anesthesia and establishing and securing an airway.
• Accountable for making sure that patients are positioned in such a way NOT to cause discomfort or injury during their procedure.
• Monitoring and maintaining patient’s vital signs and anesthesia depth.
• Use anesthesia knowledge to provide safe patient care.
• Competent in general and unit specific skills necessary to provide patient care.
• Able to assess and monitor patients under anesthesia.
• Proficient in adult, pediatric and neonatal resuscitation.
• Proficient in operating equipment required for patient care.
• Proficient in maintaining aseptic technique.
• Assist Registrars, Anesthesiologists, and Consultants with assessments and procedures.
• Prepares equipment, medications and machinery needed to provide anesthesia.
• Prepare, maintain, transport and clean equipment required for nursing care of patients.
• Prepare medications safely and according to policies, procedures and unit competencies.
• Documents according to hospital policy.
• Assist with transport of patients to other areas in hospital.
• Assist in preparing a range of devices to maintain the patient’s airway (e.g. laryngeal masks, endotracheal tube).
• Receives blood and blood products from Laboratory.
• Transport prescriptions and medications to and from pharmacy.
• Assist with maintenance of required supplies and quality checks.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for anesthesia area.
• Acts in a professional and responsible manner.
• Participate in hospital quality assurance program.
• Performs other tasks and duties within the scope of the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the job, as assigned by the immediate superior.
